An Indo Pacific Bottlenose dolphin Spyhops during a mating interaction in glassy conditions. Dolphins are reknown for their extreme intelligence, undertaking many activities few others in the Animal kingdom are known to do. Sexual interactions outside of fertile stages, consuming marine creatures which give them a drug like experience and even just surfing waves to name a few of their pleasure seeking ambitions. One unique and less well known behaviour they exhibit though is "Wingmaning". Studies have shown male bottlenose dolphins to form groups to increase their mating likelyhood. 2 separate group sizes have been observed, the larger one consisiting of 10-15 individual males, and smaller groups of just 2-3 individuals. The larger groups of males compete against other large groups of males for access to the females in the area. Within these larger groups 2 or 3 individuals will then break off and these dolphins will pursue a single female together, assiting each other in ensuring mating success.
