With the average adult Humpback whale ranging from 12m-16m in length and 30-40 tonnes its quite impressive that such large creatures can throw themselves so high into the air.  Whales will breach for a variety of different reasons including: showing off individual fitness, impressing a mate, removing parasites and just for enjoyment.
