A Whaleshark cruises just below the surface in glassy blue conditions. Don’t be fooled, despite their name Whalesharks are actually sharks and not a whale. Their immense size reaching up to 18m and 20 tonnes, and diet feeding on plankton mimics 2 attributes of baleen whales. However, having gills which means they don’t have to surface to breathe and their side-to-side tail motion means they are most certainly a shark and not a whale.
