A mother green sea turtle returning to the same beach she was born over 30 years ago to lay her own eggs. Turtles use the earths magnetic field by sensing its strength and angle of inclination to determine their position. Each position on Earth has a unique combination of the two. We have google maps and GPS coordinates. Turtles navigate with this more cryptic map of magnetic profiles. Even if they are thousands of kilometres away they manage to find their way back to the beach they were born to lay by remembering the specific magnetic signature of their birthplace. Talk about being in tune with their surrondings.
